Import Trades from Interactive Brokers

You can connect Interactive Brokers to TradeJournal.co to automatically import and journal your trades. TradeJournal.co supports file upload and API connections for Interactive Brokers.

Use File Upload or Copy & Paste on the left. This is separate from API Sync / SnapTrade. Import one format per date range — do not mix Activity Statement and Transaction History for the same period.

Recommended Method 1 — Activity Statement (custom report)

Best for Trade Journal: trade rows include Date/Time (not midnight-only), options import with full contract text, and cash includes interest, dividends, fees, and deposits in one file. Use this import, then run the Wizard.

  1. Log in to the IBKR Client Portal.
  2. Go to Reporting > Statements > Custom Statements.
  3. Click Create.
  4. Statement Type: select Activity Statement (usually the default).
  5. Default Selections: click All.
  6. Optional Sections: select all options.
  7. Section Configurations (yes/no):
    • Profit and Loss: MTM and Realized P/L
    • All other items in this section: No
  8. Delivery Configurations: CSV, Daily, English.
  9. Save the template, click Run, choose the account and period, then Download CSV.
  10. Upload the CSV here. We import Order-level trades (partial fills are grouped per order) plus cash from Deposits, Dividends, Fees, and Interest sections.

Method 2 — Transaction History (fallback)

Use only if you cannot export Activity Statement. Trade dates are often date-only (00:00), which is weaker for journaling; cash is less complete (e.g. credit/debit interest may be missing). Do not import both formats for the same date range.

  1. Go to Reporting > Transaction History.
  2. Enable all columns, including Exchange Rate.
  3. Export or copy the table for your date range and upload or paste here.

Go to Import on TradeJournal.co to connect Interactive Brokers and start journaling your trades.
