July 24, 2025 (-$37.00) - Being Right Doesn't Always Mean Profits

Lesson/Review

July 24, 2025 (3 Trades) (-$37.00)

Overall Grade: B

Day Summary: Today I was up early, home from Adriana's and had a coffee outside with Trump and Hillary on a beautiful NH morning (I love my life). That had me in a good mindset for trading, and I did place an A quality trade early on in the session. Unfortunately, I missed my TP (8 points) by a point, and it then reversed and stopped me out BE, just to ultimately dump 5 or 6 minutes later back to my TP, meanwhile I had taken a long out of revenge trading. My whole idea for the second trade was, 'I know all the shorts like me that were just in profit are going to hold this through the high, so I should get long on a dip and take it through the high,' even though we were already at the top of the range. I got a half size long later following Price Action to make some back, and I didn't lose a lot, but I will admit I finished the day feeling disappointed in my trading. I needed to let that go though because I was processed focused today and I put on a good trade on a playbooked set up. It didn't work out, and that's just trading. My only issue with today was my second trade.

TRADES

Trade 1 - Short 2 MES @ Range Fake Out + Order Flow

Grade: A

  • playbooked set up - good
  • beautiful entry - good
  • held a winner - good
  • kinda knew I had messed up by not getting out at 6402.50 but it happened fast

Trade 2 - Long 2 MES @ Revenge Trading + Intuition

Grade: D

  • took this trade simply with the idea that shorts who didn't stop out like me on Trade 1 would give their trades the HOD as a stop loss
  • so i got long biased and looked for a dip - longed right into the first flush candle
  • two things to take away from this trade
  1. I was getting long at the top of the range on a day I had already expected to range (trend yesterday + PM ranging)
  2. The R just wan't there on this trade (target was essentially a new HOD with no clear defined risk - also knowing it could quickly flush to the other side of the range
  • Lastly, I created this "trade plan" and then executed it in about 30 seconds - not good

Trade 3 - Long 1 MES

Grade: B-

  • really only took this trade because of revenge trading - not good
  • limited myself to half size - good
  • followed price action - good
  • no set up - not good
  • overall risky and unnecessary trade
