Day Summary: Even though I didn't feel like I was in a good mindset for trading today, I was able to take my set up and hold to preset TP on my first trade of the day. It was a good trade, but it was hard to hold because of my mindset. Even though it was a good trade, it is probably wise not to trade when I feel like that because I am definitely more prone to making mistakes on days like that. The second trade of the day was a good, but very tough hold and ended up getting stopped out for a small loss on a trade I should have, at least trailed my stop on. I held the winner, and although at the time (actually twice, see below) there was no reason to close, once price action shifted I didn't want to close because of my ego. Tough because the chart was telling me to close, and that we were ranging big time (look at 5 MIN - ES chart below), so it was not the day to hold for continuation, especially long (see DAILY - ES below)

TRADES

Trade 1 - Long 1 MES @ 21 EMA Trap + Held Winner

Grade: A-

natemadden1994-note-2026-08-26

  1. play book set up - yes, but not in a trend so it is not an A quality set up
  2. buying low(ish) in a range - good
  3. good entry, felt initially like I had just bought a knife but thankfully quickly recovered, especially with the headspace I was in today
  4. good job holding winner - tough but there was no reason to close
  5. moved TP from 7697.50 to 7694.75 because of yesterday's resistance - also wanting to get filled, shouldn't have but that is easy to say now
  6. exiting high in the range - good

Trade 2 - Long 1 MES @ Range + Greed + Ignoring Price Action + Unlucky but NO REAL SET UP

Grade: B-

natemadden1994-note-2026-08-26

  1. playbook set up - no
  2. buying low in the range - good
  3. FOMO'd the entry a bit after not getting filled 30 seconds earlier
  4. good hold of the winner, no reason to close until it closed below support, but it happened fast and the next candle was also strong red so my ego got in the way of the fact that price action had just changed right in my face like that
  5. BUT, today was not a day to hold for continuation !! (look at premarket price action 5min/15min)
  6. Ultimately, this was a good trade - at highs I was over a 3R looking for more - good habit, but not on a day like today and I need to recognize that and at least trail my stop
